Bowlive III - Soulive Kicks Off 10 Night Run at Brooklyn Bowl
In what is probably my top favorite musical event of the year, 2012 Bowlive III completely surpassed my expectations. I love to kick-off the first of 10 nights with camera in hand and Brooklyn Bowl deviled egg shooters in the other (You HAVE to get them at Blue Ribbon inside the Brooklyn Bowl). Here's a super cool series of photographs that really capture the intensity of Soulive. Special guest, Luther Dickinson brought the band to the crossroads of Dirty Nasty Guitar Avenue and Sick Southern Swamp Street. Get out and see some live music - you've got 9 more chances to see this golden era of music! Photos for the Bowery Presents Houselist.

Epic Night at Brooklyn Bowl Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Eddie Roberts, Ron Johnson, Eric Krasno, with Warren Hanyes
The Freaks Ball XII at the Brooklyn Bowl was last night and the music was nothing short of stellar! What an incredible lineup! The Freaks Ball is an annual party hosted by the influential Yahoo-group the NYC Freaks. Over the years, the event has included a handful of bands before they broke on a national level, including The Duo, Robert Randolph, Apollo Sunshine, RANA, Bustle in Your Hedgerow, New Mastersounds and members of the extended Daptone family. This year, Freaks Ball XII Night two featured the Freaks Ball Stars that included Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds), Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Ron Johnson (Warren Haynes Band), Eric Deutch and special guests Eric Krasno, Scott Metzger and Warren Haynes.

Mike Gordon at the Brooklyn Bowl!
Words by Aaron Stein, photos by Jurick:
Cross-breeding genres without a care and inserting long, noodling jams everywhere, Mike Gordon and his guitarist Scott Murawski, another stalwart from the old days of jam yore, filled two long sets at Brooklyn Bowl Tuesday night with original music and inventive takes on other people’s tunes. Dr. John, Maceo Parker, Lettuce @BrooklynBowl - Wow!
Legendary artists Dr. John and Maceo Parker joined the tightest funk band on the planet, Lettuce for an evening of all-out party time funkiness! The Brooklyn Bowl hosted Soul to Soul II to benefit Haiti one year later. Rumor that Prince was to join after his MSG show didn't pan out, but that didn't stop the sold out crowd from having the time of their life.

Just in Time for Chanukah, Matisyahu Plays the Brooklyn Bowl with Largest Disco Dreidel Ball
American hasidic jewish reggae musician, Matisyahu, delivered his eclectic blend of traditional reggae, rock and hip hop beat-boxing sounds to the sold-out crowd at the Brooklyn Bowl last night. Not only was it his tour-opener to kick-off Chanukah's Festival of Light, but the show itself was a feast of light. At the center of the room, spun what seemed like the world's largest disco dreidel ball. Check out some of these cool shots...

Happy Chanukah!

Anders Osborne & Stanton Moore Unleash at the Brooklyn Bowl
The rock and roll energy from these two musicians is outrageous! These New Orleans musicians brought the heat last night to Brooklyn Bowl. I was enjoying every second of it from the front of the stage - these shots are serious. Enjoy!
